OPEN CALL / BIP2026 / MIROIR MIROIR Entitled MIROIR MIROIR, BIP2026 will bring together several exhibitions at a single venue. One will showcase a composite collection of portraits, created from a variety of figures (human and non-human beings) and using any visual medium (painting, photography, video, drawing, etc.). The aim is to create a heterogeneous collection of fragments, free associations arising from a multitude of disparate elements. The selected portraits will be brought together and staged in a vast, free-flowing space. We are soliciting these portraits from you, visual artists. Whether it is a single image or part of a series, large or small, already produced or yet to be produced, painted, drawn or printed, we will consider all your proposals. Self-portraits are permitted, as are group portraits. We are keen to embrace the unique ways in which artists, from all backgrounds, nationalities and generations, have seen, observed and depicted those living individuals who have returned its gaze or granted their presence as a model, an ideal or a subject. /FR/J-1 avant la fin de la Biennale... « Cette fois, la Biennale a investi une friche qui fascine, l'ancienne bibliothèque provinciale des Chiroux, sorte de tour de Babel jouxtant la Meuse. La construction de béton et de verre en question porte les stigmates de l'architecture publique des années 70. Désormais abandonné et en attente d'une hypothétique réaffectation, le bâtiment laissé dans son jus aligne couloirs anxiogènes, salles de lecture et de consultations fantômes ainsi que monte-charges spectraux et ornements rappelant les grandes heures d'une bureaucratie aux contours soviétiques. » Michel Verlinden, Focus Vif, 18/04/24 /EN/ D-1 before the end of the Biennal... "This time, the Biennial has taken over a fascinating wasteland, the former provincial library of Les Chiroux, a sort of Tower of Babel on the banks of the Meuse. The concrete and glass building in question bears the scars of the public architecture of the 1970s. Now abandoned and awaiting a hypothetical reallocation, the building has been left in its original state, lined with anxiety-inducing corridors, ghostly reading and consultation rooms, spectral goods lifts and ornaments reminiscent of the heyday of a Soviet-style bureaucracy". /FR/ J-3 Avant la fin de la Biennale... « La grande bibliothèque vidée devient un vrai vaisseau fantôme, fascinant, avec les traces de ses grandes salles de consultation et à l’étage de ses bureaux et ses réserves, avec des sculptures créées pour l’occasion à partir de son vieux mobilier. C’est un lieu comme tiré d’un livre de François Schuiten.
