Amazing new work by @apatmariano for @gargarfestival in Penelles 🇪🇸
The Lisboa artist Patricia popped on the radar last year and has been rocking the streets ever since.
For this mural 'Trigo' she explored the profound and vital connection between women and the rural landscape. The piece features a central female figure holding a basket of wheat, but the core narrative lies in the symbolic opening in her chest, from which the grain flows freely.
This work serves as a visual metaphor: women are not merely observers or workers of the land; they are the pulsing heart of agricultural life itself. Through this imagery, I wanted to celebrate female strength and their indispensable role in the heritage and continuity of rural communities.
The flow of wheat from within the figure represents a source of life and sustenance, bridging the gap between the human spirit and the earth that provides for us. In a place like Penelles, where the agricultural identity is so present, this mural stands as a tribute to the unseen force that has sustained these lands for generations.
