"Rain"
Took the opportunity to make some art on a otherwise slow and rainy Sunday. I planned to draw this in more rugged paper but the plot ended up tearing it up, so I had to switch to a normal sheet.
Concentric circles projected on a 3D scan with some straight lines to create the look of pouring rain. I removed random segments from the circles which I think added a lot of texture to the final piece.

"Graeae"
Another experiment. For this I used a fountain pen on lokta paper. This time I wanted to move away from geometric patterns and try something more figurative, so I came up with this illustration of the Graeae from Greek mythology.

"Cone Crossing"
Got some new lokta paper I wanted to try out, so I played around a bit in Houdini until I got this geometric pattern. Really like the surface detail of this paper, I will have to try out different pens and inks to see what other results I can get.

#plotparty Mar 14 - Pi
Inspired by Archimedes method of exhaustion I set out to create something that made the viewer sense the "limit" of the circular shape, in a similar fashion how one can sense "infinity" in some of MC Eschers works.

#plotparty Feb 10 – Heart Shape
It was tricky to find a visually interesting pattern using the 🤍 shape. During my research I found that two intertwined 8's (or ♾️) would create two 🤍 shapes.
It felt as though I stumbled upon a deeper symbolic meaning, which took me by surprise as I was not looking for anything else than an interesting geometric pattern.
What I take this work to mean is that one can study the shapes an draw the logical conclusion that it consists of eight 8's. But as you start looking for 🤍 you'll find they are all over the image, created by the overlapping shapes. Which reminds me of the absurd and that it is up to us to find and create meaning in our lives.

#plotparty Oct 25 - Drops Shape
Instead of using the classic 'drop shape' I opted to render more realistic droplets in a geometric layout. I mixed traditional 3D rendering techniques with line generation to achieve the sense of reflections in the droplets.

"Möbius Grid"
#plotparty Oct 24 - Grids
I'm super fascinated by how M.C. Escher would construct warped perspectives. Sometimes his perspective guides are as interesting as the final artwork! So to replicate that feeling I explored different ways of twisting and adding logarithmic scaling to a regular grid. I really like the effect this Möbius transformation had on a grid with multiple subdivision levels.

#plotparty Oct 23 - Red, Black and White
With this theme I wanted to achieve stark contrasts between the subjects and background. Not only in hue and value but also in texture. Really like how this one looks in person, the micro details are hard to capture in a photograph.

#plotparty 22 Oct - Paint
I took the opportunity to try my first pen plot using a brush and watercolors. The initial setup took up most of my time so there wasn't much left for exploring ideas for the artwork itself. I'm glad to have brushwork be part of my toolkit now!

"Penrose dodecahedron"
#plotparty 21 Oct - Polygons
Starting off Octobers plot party by returning to an old Penrose tiling setup I experimented with earlier this year. I really love the 5 sided symmetries that comes out of some Penrose tilings so I wanted to play with that aspect and introduce some 3D elements. This is probably not my last time playing with these shapes!
