Proper Testing of Car Cleaning Detergents
To accurately assess car cleaning detergents, snow-foams, TFR’s etc, it's important to use standardised testing methods that remove personal bias and ensure consistent conditions. This makes the process straightforward and reliable. It can be done easily at home.
Here’s an example of an abbreviated report that our laboratory made. We compared three European products, including strong cleaners from Germany and Italy. Our goal is to help improve the quality of online tests, which are often poorly conducted, by providing guidance for proper evaluations.
It's crucial to understand that real road grime, known as traffic film, adheres to vehicles due to various forces and is different even to that which dirt simulators seek to replicate. Therefore, testing detergents on vehicles with actual road film is the only way to ensure the product works effectively.
By following these standardised methods and testing under real-world conditions we can easily see the comparative performance.

Many thanks to Colin for this video. He'd asked us for a detergent that would effectively remove traffic film with low pressure rinsing as he doesn’t have a pressure washer. He was very pleased when he tested Touch-Less at 2% and sent us this to see. He applied the product using a pump sprayer and rinsed with an open hose pipe.
