Nerd alert!!!
A few weeks ago, I was listening to the
@massenomics podcast with Ryan "6 Pack" Lapadat from
@kingofthelifts .
There were two topics that "6 Pack" brought up. First, "6 Pack" highlighted how dominate Jesus Olivares was at the 2024 IPF Open Classic Worlds. Second, "6 Pack" alluded to how hot and tight the 2024 IPF Sheffield Competition was going to be.
Being a data guy, and a fan of the sport of powerlifting, I wanted to dig into these statements. This post will cover the Sheffield. I will post another about my findings about how dominant Jesus was.
Very quickly - the winner of the Sheffield is based on the percentage of WR achieved. To make this comparison, I pulled the most recent competition total and compiled a total based on each athlete's PRs.
So, is the 2024 IPF Sheffield Competition going to be hot and tight? Yes, yes it is!
On men's side, there is no definitive leader. Anatolli leads based on recent comp results, and Tim leads based on PR comparisons. Interestingly enough, Kyota was second based on both metrics. Also, you can never count Jesus out. So, in my opinion, it's a three horse race: Anatolli, Kyota, and Jesus.
So, what about the women's side? There is one standout based on the results - Evie Corrigan. She leads on both metrics and it doesn't look close. Her most recent competition, the New Zealand Nationals, was higher than the current WR with a complete set of PRs. Based on these results, it looks like Evie is going to run away with this competition.
I know, this is a long post, but I had a lot of fun with it.
Thanks for humoring me with my nerdishness.
