Huge thanks to Councilor Benjamin Weber (@ben4district6 ) for taking on the “Bike Flattening” Challenge and, more importantly, engaging in a vital dialogue with our Youth Leaders. 🚲 Beyond the mechanics of prepping bikes for shipment, our youth led a roundtable on the Boston TRUST Act, sharing the legitimate fears their neighbors face regarding ICE targeting. At Bikes Not Bombs, the bicycle is a tool for liberation—and that starts with ensuring our community feels safe and heard. We’re grateful to Councilor Weber for centering youth voices! ⚖️ Want to visit us? Email me: [email protected] to set up a tour. #BikesNotBombs #YouthAdvocacy #BostonTRUSTAct #SocialJustice #District6

“I was a young Black girl who didn’t yet understand the systems working against me, but I quickly found a community that did.” — Tamirah Brown, BNB Sales Coordinator & Northeastern University Senior. At Bikes Not Bombs, we don’t just fix bikes; we cultivate the leaders who will fix our systems. Tamirah’s journey—from a 16-year-old Youth Apprentice to a graduating Northeastern senior and future Social Worker—is the power of that mission in action. Her goal is to ensure the youth in her community have the resources and voice they deserve. This is why we ride. Join Tamirah and hundreds of others as we raise $175,000 to fuel the next generation of social change leaders. These funds support our strategic work to dismantle systemic barriers like “Mobility Apartheid.” Date: May 17th, 2026 Goal: 400 Riders, $175,000 Join the Movement: Link in Bio! Help us give 500 more youth the same opportunity Tamirah found at BNB. #BikesNotBombs #BikeAThon2026 #YouthLeadership #SocialJustice #MobilityJustice BostonImpact CommunityChange NortheasternUniversity

Shameless promotion of my husband Jonathan who is riding his ⭐️22nd annual⭐️ @BikesNotBombs bike-a-thon TOMORROW, May 17. Please help him be their top fundraiser for the 💫21st year💫 in a row! He is riding with the @bostoncyclistsunion team. With so many things going wrong in the country right now, supporting grassroots nonprofits like #BikesNotBombs helps counteract the local and international impact of this administration’s policies. Please read more about the #BNB mission at bikesnotbombs.org Here is the link for donation: tinyurl.com/jsm-bnb2026 Thank you for reading and hopefully supporting! #JamaicaPlain #JonathanMcCurdy #BAT2026

🎳✨ MJE Youth Bowling for Peace Event Our youth peer leaders hosted their annual Gun Violence Prevention event at Lucky Strike, centered on this year’s theme: “Bowling into Peace.” The event brought together youth from our partners at @mosaicaction , @bostondayandeve , and @bikesnotbombs for a powerful day of connection, reflection, and positive recreation. We explored de-escalation strategies, conflict resolution, emotional regulation, and self-care—tools essential for building safer communities. A meaningful reminder that peace-building can start with simple moments of connection—and a shared lane! 🎳🕊️

Huge thanks to the team at Bikes Not Bombs for showing me around last week. They’re proving every day that social justice and sustainability belong together. Whether it’s through their repair shop, community classes, or international aid, this team is doing the heart-work of building a better future. What really struck me is how they bridge local impact with global solidarity. In one corner, youth from Dorchester and JP are gaining the mechanical skills and confidence to lead. In another, you see the massive effort it takes to ship thousands of bikes a year to partners across Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean.
