You might have noticed Ms Big Light has been SHOCKINGLY SILENT this year, and it’s because she was out in the field collecting data, extrapolating points and studying the blade Anyway, here’s more stills from Mamacita, which I had the pleasure to light alongside DOP @screenkate . 𝑴𝑨𝑴𝑨𝑪𝑰𝑻𝑨 - 𝘓𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘉𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘬𝘥𝘰𝘸𝘯 Most of the references for this MV were the 90s and 2000s rnb music videos that paralleled Hollywood’s high octane hyper-polarised muscle movies backdropped by hot pink sunsets, fast cars and a cast of purely 10s. We ended up blaring point source tungsten (well gelled LED) direct onto our insanely talented cast and artists to accentuate their movement and to make em shine baby (but tbh it was BYO Glow with these dancers because they turned up with 𝘛𝘏𝘌 ENERGY!) Lots changed between the planning and execution on the day. Primarily we ended up simplifying the set up due to the power constraints and manpower limitations (I’m boycotting this homophobic windy ass beach). Simplifying everything brought it back to the ‘anything is possible with twenty PAR cans and a dream’ mentality of 2000s music video making Slide 3 for the LX Diagram More lighting breakdowns to come!
