Every year on 18 May, museums across the world come together to celebrate International Museum Day. This year’s theme by ICOM, “Museums Uniting a Divided World,” reminds us that museums are not just spaces that preserve objects, but spaces that bring people together through dialogue, culture and shared histories. At Bihar Museum, this spirit continues through initiatives like the Bihar Museum Biennale, creating conversations across communities, countries and cultures. To mark the occasion, the Bihar Museum team created a short film celebrating International Museum Day, which was screened on 17 May 2026 at Patna Museum, Buddha Marg, Patna and Bihar Museum, Nehru Path, Patna. Here are some glimpses from the screenings!

Every year on the 18th of May, museums around the world come together to mark International Museum Day. This year, the International Council of Museums (ICOM) has chosen the theme: “Museums Uniting a Divided World.” It is a reminder that museums are more than buildings that store objects. They are spaces where people from different backgrounds, cultures and countries can meet, learn from each other and find common ground. At Bihar Museum, this idea is something we have been working on for years through the Bihar Museum Biennale. Here is a short film celebrating the International Museum Day!
