We were delighted to attend the Green Valley Fire Station Groundbreaking Ceremony—an exciting step forward for the community and a meaningful milestone for our team as the architecture and interior design firm behind this project.
The new 18,000 SF, single-story facility has been thoughtfully designed to reflect its rural setting. The four-bay, drive-through station will include a training and hose drying tower, administrative spaces, bunkrooms, and essential living and wellness areas to support the firefighters who serve this region.
This project carries deep meaning, as the State Highway in front of the station will be dedicated in honor of Battalion Chief Joshua D. Laird, who lost his life in the line of duty on August 11, 2021. Learn more about his story here: /fallen-firefighter/joshua-d-laird/
We’re proud to see this vision come to life and grateful to be part of a project that blends purposeful design with community context.

A fresh coastal transformation at National Harbor ⛵
Our renovation of The Walrus Oyster & Ale House brings the restaurant’s vision of high-quality seafood and a whimsical dining experience to life. The space features custom murals, fish scale–inspired plaster, convex mirrors, and gabion partitions by local artisans Kelly L. Walker and McLain Wiesand, balanced with colorful tilework, refined furnishings, and lighting. A tidewater-style canopy and indoor-outdoor bar extend the patio, creating an elevated experience indoors and out.

As part of our six-week architecture quest, our learners are designing their own “dream school.” We also took the opportunity to connect this work to something that sits at the heart of our program: helping each learner discover their calling.
To make that real, we visited the architects at @bigwaha in Annapolis. They walked us through some of their projects and showed how an idea becomes a finished building. Just as importantly, they shared why they chose architecture—what pulled them into the field, what keeps them there, and the challenges they’ve had to push through along the way. Hearing honest stories like that helps our learners see how callings take shape in real life, not just on paper.
Learners then presented their own school designs and received thoughtful feedback they’ll use as they continue refining their work.
A sincere thank-you to the Bignell Watkins Hasser team for opening their office and sharing both their craft and their journeys.
