Well, we delayed the inevitable as long as possible. We’ve managed to keep the Pinchovy at the same price since its debut, but between the skyrocketing tungsten market and general inflation that’s no longer viable. We want to give everyone a chance to snag our remaining stock before the price increase, so the inventory on our website will stay at the current price through May 16th to coincide with
@danalanding Summer Kickoff. That will be the last opportunity to get them before the price bumps to $79 (still ready to fish out of the box with the same premium hardware).
We were able to hold out this long thanks to our awesome partnership with our tungsten supplier
@nako_outdoor who’ve done everything they can to support us, including absorbing the tariff burdens imposed last year, allowing us to stockpile last Spring. Raw tungsten roughly tripled in price during the remainder of 2025, and has since nearly tripled again.
Nako was able to resupply us at rates closer to the beginning of the year and this current price increase is commensurate with that. Faced with the choice of running out of stock while waiting for the market to correct or having lures available for the season, we’d rather choose the latter. While we’ve seen some evidence to suggest the market will cool a bit, it’s worth noting that if it doesn’t we may have to bump again when this stock runs dry.
The Pinchovy has always been intended to be a tool, and we’re committed to pricing it as such. We’re investigating several avenues of materials & processing cost reductions that we can pass along, but ultimately elemental chemistry has not blessed us with any cheaper alternatives to tungsten that translate to the same level of castability and swim action. We have no interest in compromising on performance, nor quality, and intend to preserve both.
I’d like to personally thank
@coealu and the Nako team for what they do, and all of you as well for your understanding! We’re excited to see how the rest of the season materializes and keeping you #alreadybit as it progresses, we don’t want to fall into a hype trap but conditions across the board are very interesting!
