This movie was the reason Hollywood studios wouldn’t touch anything pirate themed for years and years - it bombed and resulted in the closer of Carolco Pictures.
Not until Pirates Of The Caribbean: The Curse Of The Black Pearl (2003) did Hollywood take a gamble on pirates again.
Guinness World Record’s biggest box-office bomb of all time aside - I always loved this movie growing up and still think the epic, big budget battle scene at the end is absolutely brilliant!
