Last week was pretty freaking rad! Not only did I get to hangout with 2 of my best friends everyday in a really cool place, I also finally went fishing for the first time in like a year and a half since being injured! I'm still not up to fishing like I used to and most likely won't fish again for the rest of the season while I continue to heal, but it was great just to go at a casual pace and do a bit of casting. Especially since I was able to catch 3 schoolies on the first night out! But equally as important I got to fish with my friends and give them a taste of the hobby I'm so obsessed with and even get them into some fish! We were lucky to have some great weather and some clear nights to watch the boats going by and the stars and moon putting on their amazing shows. It truly was an amazing week and I'm lucky to have these people in my life and get to take the time to enjoy myself with them! #howmanyclamscouldterryfranconaeat #seekjoy
I haven't made an actual post on here in a long ass time, I usually only post interesting stuff that's happened to me. As anyone who knows me personally knows nearly a year ago I broke my foot in quite a catastrophic way and my life was essentially put on pause while I healed and dealt with some complications from it. But looking back I guess some cool/interesting stuff did happen during that time. I did spend a lot of time trying to remain sane and occupy my mind while on rest duty(2). I had a bunch of friends come to visit and sit in the backyard with me and watch the boats go by while enjoying the nice weather when we could(3). Finally by October my rest and minimal activity orders were lifted and some amazing friends threw me a surprise birthday party(4). Once I was able to get out of the house I made sure to head to see some concerts with the usual crew of hoodlums(5)&(6). Of course I had to get back to visiting my favorite cafe with my favorite staff of weirdos(7). I was finally able to get back to sitting by the water at the canal and some of my favorite beaches even if I wasn't able to fish at all last season(8). I went with Andrew and Emily while they got matching bubbins tattoos for Emily's birthday(9). And how I passed the majority of the time while stuck at home, I'd put my headphones on turn on some music and I read a lot of books, 40 last year!(10). I'm still not back to 100% I still have a big clunky walking boot and I definitely don't have my strength back to what it was, but I'm slowly getting there and I'm grateful for the friends and family who helped me get through it without going much crazier than I already am!
Saturday was now that's what I call bussin fest at @lighthouseskatepark . The only thing we were bussin was a sweat in that heat 😅 but it was still fun to chill with all the homies and see some great local bands! #seekjoy #riskhappy
A few pics from a quiet, secluded area I was enjoying some reading in today. There were a bunch of dragonflies buzzing around along with a ton of ebony jewelwings chasing each other around and enjoying the day hanging out on some wild flowers that bordered the small stream. It was also lovely to see a large population of honey and bumble bees pollinating the wild flowers and plants in the area. #seekjoy #getoutside

Such a nice afternoon, I spent an hour changing hooks and messing around with some of my fishing gear slowly getting ready for my season to start in a week or two. Now I'm enjoying some coffee while reading and listening to music. 🙂 #seekjoy
I feel like I'm in school, 4+ pages of handwritten notes of info I've gather from all over the place including reading through a 180 page document as well as from other like minded people and organizations all in an effort to write an email to the Atlantic states marine fisheries commission about what I think they should be doing to help save my beloved striped bass from population collapse. I won't get into my opinions but they are pretty much inline with the guys at asga, stripers forever and guys like Jerry Audet. If you care for stripers like I do you have until April 15th to get your email in and there is a ton of great info out there from these organizations and all your favorite saltwater fishing magazines and blogs so check it out and get your emails in.
