One week ago today, I very suddenly and tragically lost my father Kerry, only 4 days before he was to meet his grandson Arlo for the first time. He was a conflicted and complicated man, and he and I didn’t always see things from the same perspective, but I’m thankful for the last several years over which we’d been able to reconnect and rebuild our relationship as father and son. Despite his relocation to the Oregon Coast, the miles that separated us, and the long stretches between our visits and chats, he was close to me in my heart. I regret that he missed meeting his grandson, and that Arlo missed meeting his grandpa, but I can find some small comfort in knowing that he’s no longer in pain. Rest In Peace, Dad. I love you.
