RPM finish line is here once again. Two fresh graveyard shift tracks up on bandcamp now. I had the opportunity to work on a few RPM projects this year (stay tuned), so I didn’t spend as much time on my own. I also started a bunch of other songs that didn’t get finished, so I may drop a mixtape of sorts soon, we’ll see. Computer rock music forever. link to listen in bio.

RPM time once again! This is my 9th year participating in the @rpmchallenge (making a record in the month of February). This February turned out to be a really busy one for me with the release of the new Swimming record. Usually every year I think up a new project to try out some new stuff that I don’t normally do, but this year I switched it up and decided to continue with the project I started last RPM, Graveyard Shift. Last year I set out to make some computer pop music, after being heavily influenced by the work of the PC Music label. The final product ended up being a bit more guitar rock oriented, so this year I tried to go even more digital. I was having fun make sounds that hurt the ears but sound good. I’ve been sitting on the title “Damaging Frequencies” for like 6 years. Glad to finally put it to use. @worlds_most_special_girl came in to do the vocals on the first track ‘Supernova’ which was put together in the final dying hours of February. We just wanted to make some beautiful, fun, noisy pop music and it came out really cool. A bit of brat summer in the winter. The second track ‘Access Code’ started as an experiment last year. I was going on tour during February and wouldn’t have my recording gear with me, so I sampled myself strumming every root position major barre chord on the guitar and built a sort of guitar-synth in the computer. I never fully figured it out then, so this year I doubled down and built this quick song with that. The last song ‘Ruin’ was one that I wrote for the instalment of Night Music that I hosted at the Ship last fall. I wanted to have a song that felt like you’re hearing the guitar and vocals live and the backing band is playing along in a different room. It’s a pretty dark & moody track, so I recorded all the guitars and vocals with a mic that my friend Nick built for me out of an old landline phone to give some more unease. I figured i’d make a little visualizer to post here so people can get a taste of what’s going on, but the full EP is available on bandcamp. Would love if you checked it out! Might put this up on streaming eventually. Link in bio. #hyperpop #GuitarBasedElectronicListeningMusic

Swimming releases our new album ‘Old’ today. Liam and I did a track by track commentary on the album for @idioteq_com if you want read my ramblings about the record. I’m happy to get this out into the world and get started on the next one. I’m lucky to get to do it with two of my best pals. I also had the special privilege of having my family play on the last track of the record as well as having Isobel work on the artwork. All my favourite people helped out on this one. We’ll see you at a show soon. Scroll through for every photo/video I have from the making of this record… We moved into Liam’s parents house for a weekend to record the bed tracks, I took a couple photos. Unsurprisingly, not a single photo or video of us actually recording the record exists. Gary set a tree on fire, that was pretty cool.

hosting night music next week. ostensibly my first “solo gig” since like 2016 or something lol. I’ll be performing songs from the graveyard shift ep I made during rpm month this year, as well as some new ones, interlaced with improvised material and noise experimentation. open jam to follow, if any friends wanna get up and make some noise. thanks to @soundsymposium for providing a stage for wacky shit like this.

hello! if you’ve gotten an invoice from one of us in the last year or so you might have noticed a little logo in the corner and mention of something called halfcase. now the time has come to officially launch our new moniker @halfcasestudio ! we’ve both been looking for a hub to run our creative work through, and we are almost always working on each other’s projects so we’re happy to have one roof for this to all live under. visit our new website/portfolio through the link in our bio to see what this is all about. (some of you might be already following this account from its previous lives as nothing__hurts or sensitiveiso. stick around, cause we’ll be sharing everything we’re working on here)

RPM time again folks feast your ears on a quick bit of what i’m calling hyperpop-influenced-guitar-based-electronic-listening-music. been listening to a lot of caroline polachek lately, wanted to make something like that, but it kinda came out different, still fun. check out GRAVEYARD SHIFT. lincoln bio
