Excited to finally debut my newly built JMOD MEH speakers (@jw_sound ) for Bloomphest!
These speakers are a very high performance multiple entry horn design, utilizing extremely efficient and low distortion drivers within a single horn, creating a point source sound from 80-20000hz. Its strong control directivity gives a powerfully coherent sound that allows for precise, detailed, and stable imaging in a large space.
Compared to my previous DIY active accuton speakers, these are even more resolving.
They will debut at the Basement Projects Bloomphest event on April 11th, including an opening live set by me. Def come and check them out, and stay for the vibes, as well as the amazing headliner @trippin_jaguar_music@viv_on_dj@dj_franziv@basement_prjct@costantino_dj
Scream, oil, spray paint, acrylic on birch ply
Haven’t made any paintings in far too long, honestly it’s embarrassing. I don’t know what cadence I’ll have if I keep going, but making a piece every 1-2 months would be nice. This piece pairs with my previous painting, and I think I want to turn them into a series - neon street graffiti over reimagined classic portraits, intentionally playing with the dissonance of fit (while hopefully avoiding being entirely corny about it). After 4-5 of those I would imagine it would be time to evolve my style, but it would be fun to present them at a show. Let me know what worked and what didn’t!
We’re introducing the Basement Project Community Radio: a new initiative part of The Hub. Join us for an evening of connection, creativity, and community-driven music this Thursday from 8:30–11:30 PM at Cloud & Spirits.
Experience sounds from the community shared to the world — a night that brings together local talent, underground energy, and the collective rhythm of Boston’s creative scene. Whether you’re here to vibe, meet fellow artists, or just soak in the atmosphere, this night is all about celebrating the heartbeat of the community.
Lineup:
🕣 8:30–9:30 — @mixmstrstel
🕤 9:30–10:30 — @vanya_fomenko
🕥 10:30–11:30 — @big.nemo_
Come enjoy a space to share, connect, and groove. See you Thursday!
girl with the pearl earing, oil + spray paint + marker on birch plywood
Long overdue piece that I tackled this week. Modern girl with a pearl earing painted over graffiti on plywood, to give an impression of found/repurposed street art. The girl herself is supposed to pop off the original board, which I think works to an extent. Some aspects came out particularly well, like her head piece fading into the background. Painterly strokes/splatters are used to add to the rushed pragmatic look, while the details become more concentrated towards the center. It's, like, postmodern or something.
Eventually I might add the neck tattoo from the original sketch, but I decided I want to sit with it as it for a while before adding/changing more.
