Where have all the flowers gone’ 2024
Looking spectacular in @robsonrakarchitects Stellar House project.
Inspired by Pete Seegers anti-war song ‘where have all the flowers gone’ couldn’t be any more relevant than now. The hand carved timber flowers placed in the recycled copper pipes mimicking the powerful photographs ‘flower power’ of brave individuals protesting the Vietnam war.
Do yourself a favour and give this beautiful song a listen!
“Room To Black - Self Portrait” stands as a faceless ode to the hindsight that comes in moments of triumph, the external noise of disbelievers. Created from Messmate burl, the sculpture’s head-like form reflects the search for self amidst gripping uncertainty and the dawning moment of accomplishment that precedes total exposure. The added handmade brass roses symbolise burgeoning ideas, representing the restless contemplation that often keeps us awake at night—an articulate reclamation of voice and identity to those who voiced doubt along the way.

“Jan’s Bag” is an elegant piece intended initially to accompany Jan. It now stands alone as a testament to the finer aspects of life, reinforcing the idea that beauty and style can emerge even in solitude.
Thank you @flackstudio_ for the opportunity and an amazing night.

Cast bronze pitted milking stool,” a limited edition piece forged in bronze, carry a primitive quality that feels antiquated. Its pitted surface bestows a characterful layer, while Bemelen’s choice to accelerate the patina further emphasises the passage of time, seamlessly connecting it to the broader theme of transformation.
