BIDC was in London making connections with other community groups, designers and artists similarly working towards decolonizing the spatial realm design industry.
We had a wonderful time meeting with @baida.ca to celebrate BAIDA members gaining their @raic_irac fellowships and discussing how to further Black and Indigenous solidarity in spatial realm design, such as architecture, urban planning, public art and landscape architecture.

For International Landscape Architecture Day we wanted to highlight our board member and educator Teena Aujla!
Teena is a multi-disciplinary designer working in landscape design, urban planning, and community engagement. She prioritizes collaboration to craft spaces that are revitalizing, culturally significant, and eco-friendly. Teena mentors racialized youth and interacts with communities on urban design, education, and advocacy. She sits on the boards of the Black and Indigenous Design Collective and 221A. Living in East Vancouver on the ancestral lands of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh peoples, she shares her home with her husband, daughter, and pets. Of Panjabi heritage, Teena is an alumna of UBC, Concordia University, and SFU.
Teena also joined us during the Spatial Design Future Building program to share insights on water systems' vital role in design with Design Cypher students!

Scott Massey's artistic work focuses on art-science fusion. He enhances natural phenomena by integrating imaginative modifications, drawing insights from his studies in the fields of quantum physics and astronomy. Light, a vital component in his work, serves as a central theme in his visual expressions. Massey engaged with our Public Art students, discussing the significant impact of choosing the right materials in artistic creation.
