Peaks Challenge @fallscreek 2026. 235km. 4,500+m of climbing. A day that is hard at every end of the field and everywhere in between, from sub7 to 13hrs.
To every rider who rolled out of Falls Creek in the dark and mist, and came back with empty legs and a full heart congratulations.
What an epic day. What a community. Thank you for supporting @bicycle_network to get more people riding more often.

A huge advocacy win for e-bike riders!
Earlier this year, a proposed ban on e-bikes on Victorian trains risked affecting thousands of people who rely on them to get to work, travel regionally, stay connected, and manage cost-of-living pressures.
Bicycle Network, alongside bicycle user groups and our members, pushed back; meeting with government, industry and experts, and encouraging people to share their stories and more than 1,000 riders responded.
Today’s news confirms that compliant e-bikes will continue to be allowed on trains, while illegal modifications will be banned - a risk-based, evidence-led outcome.
A huge thank you to everyone who spoke up. This outcome reflects the power of our members’ collective voice. Thank you for enabling us to represent you.

Bicycle Network welcomes the announcement of an ongoing fund for active transport in this year’s federal budget.
Local and state governments will be able to access the $50 million a year fund to support much-needed active transport projects, which should be a priority as people seek to cope with the cost of living crisis and climate stress.
We look forward to seeing more cycling infrastructure in communities across the country and urge state and local governments to follow the federal government in making active transport a priority.
Victorians are cycling more than ever, but most don't know their rights on the road.
If a driver's negligence leaves you injured, you may be entitled to compensation.
As a Bicycle Network member, you have access to free legal advice from lawyers who specialise in cyclist injury claims and know what it takes to get you the outcome you deserve.
Did you know there’s a completely free and secure bike parking service at over 155 train stations across Victoria? 🚲

Super Tuesday South data; More people, riding more often!
Super Tuesday South is our counts data of Southern Australia, with the Northern half conducting their counts later in the year. It is one of the most important active transport snapshots that influences infrastructure investment, active transport planning and trends.
Bicycle Network works in partnership with councils, onboarding over 1,000 volunteers, across almost 950 locations from 7am-9am, tracking volume, direction, gender, type of bike and e-scooter use. Note; only legal e-bikes are considered.
Volunteers receive $70 for their time which they can nominate to give to a charity, community club or opt for a Bicycle Network Membership, this enabled us to not only gather important data but fund $41,000 back into local communities around the country.
With the growth of e-bike use, so is the number of women opting to ride during the commute, along with significant growth in numbers in NSW and WA who not only had a perfect weather day have also recently heavily invested in increasing bike infrastructure.
Bicycle Networks mission is to get more people riding more often.

JUST REVEALED: The all-new Gravel Macedon routes
And they’re seriously next level.
We’ve reworked every course for 2026: less traffic, smoother flow, and more time doing what you love: riding epic gravel.
Each distance now rolls through local towns, so you can soak up the atmosphere and refuel your way (coffee, bakery stops, pies… you know the drill).
52km – More fun, less sting. 25% less elevation with smoother climbs. 75km – The sweet spot. Shorter than prior years with more gradual climbing. A perfectly balanced challenge at that middle level. 126km – The ultimate gravel experience. Big climbs, 4 towns, and 76% pure gravel predominantly off sealed roads.
Backed by legendary on-route support, this is Gravel Macedon like you’ve never ridden it before.
Which one are you taking on?
Join us on the 17th of May for the Gravel event of the year!

We’re seeking your feedback on the recent changes to the protected bike lanes along Marine Parade (Beach Rd).
As a member-based organisation representing over 45,000 riders nationally, including more than 30,000 in Victoria, your voice helps shape how we advocate for safer, better bike infrastructure. We’ve heard a range of views so far; from riders who valued the lanes, to those who felt improvements were needed and we want to understand your experience.
Your feedback will help inform how we work with governments, councils and local groups to improve bike lanes not just on Beach Road but across Victoria and more broader, Nationally.
Tell us what you think - link in bio to complete the survey.
While this change is in one location, we know thousands of riders use this route every day, and your input will help shape bike infrastructure in your local area.

National Ride2School Day returns this Friday!
More than 350,000 students across Australia will participate in National Ride2School Day this Friday 20 March, in the country’s biggest celebration of active transport for school students.
National Ride2School Day is the peak of Bicycle Network’s nationwide Ride2School program, which works to help children get their 60 minutes of daily exercise by riding, walking, scooting or skating to school instead of travelling by motor vehicle.
@alisonmccormack “We know that riding to school can help students perform academically”.

Peakers 2026! The Alpine National Park is one of the most spectacular places we get to ride and it’s a privilege for Peaks Challenge to be there this weekend. Let’s keep it that way!
Last year we saw far too much rubbish on course at Peaks Challenge so this year we’re introducing designated litter zones.
You’ll find Litter Drops approximately 500m after each rest stop on the left-hand side of the road, where you can safely discard wrappers and bottles.
Your options are simple:
🎒 Carry it
🚮 Bin it at rest stops
📍Use the litter drops
Please help us protect this incredible place we are lucky enough to ride through and leave nothing behind but tired legs.
