On International Day of the Midwife, we’re celebrating midwives in all their roles: from clinical care to research. For over 20 years, one of our midwives at Born in Bradford, Dagmar Waiblinger, has been part of that journey. We spoke to her about how midwifery research has evolved, and her role within it. Q: You’ve been a research midwife for over 20 years - what’s changed the most? A: “When I started in 2003, there were only a handful of research studies going on in maternity. Research in the NHS has evolved since and has become an integral part. Now we have a team of research midwives running many studies, and that work feeds directly back into improving care for women.” Q: What inspired you to move into research? A: “Even during my training back in the early 90s, I knew research would be part of my future. When the opportunity came to work for Born in Bradford in 2006, I knew, I wanted to be part of this” From the earliest studies to where we are today, Dagmar has been part of it all💙

🩰 Can dance really improve children’s wellbeing? Our new report says 'Yes!' 👀 We were commissioned by the Royal Ballet and Opera to explore how their Create & Dance programme impacts children’s wellbeing. Working with Bradford primary schools, we identified five key wellbeing themes, where Create & Dance is making a real difference. 🔗Find out what they are in our report by clicking the link in our story
