Meet one of our featured authors at the Constantia Literary Festival! We’re delighted to welcome Bianca Flanders, beloved for her heartwarming Pumpkin Series 🎃, a collection of four beautifully crafted books that inspire young readers through themes of kindness, courage, and self-discovery. Her storytelling has captured the imagination of children and families alike, making her a standout voice in South African children’s literature. Join us on 23 May at the Constantia Literary Festival to experience one of her stories brought to life. This is a special opportunity for little readers (and their grown-ups!) to connect with an author whose work continues to nurture a love of reading from an early age. 📚 Not to be missed! @ebcavendish @bianca.flanders #ConstantiaLiteraryFestival #ChildrensBooks #capetownevents #penguinbooks #biancaflanders

WE'RE OPENING TOMORROW NIGHT! Whoo hoo! At Suidoosterfees at Artscape and surrounds. Reasons why you should come and watch 'Karamonkie.' 1. I talk about food. More often than one would expect for a theatre show. 2. There are delicious South African short stories, by delicious South African writers. 3. There are delicious South African illustrations, by delicious South African artists. 4. Said delicious illustrations are in a box, so it's kind of like a sexy picture Book for grown ups. 5. There's music and singing. 6. It's only 30 minutes! 7. It's only R50 Basically, to summarize...if you like food and music and art, and if you're restless and can't sit still for longer than 30 minutes. If you like picture books and sexy stories, and if you're on a budget, then this is right up your alley. It's a little taster of the big, full show. So it's a like a small plate, or an amuse bouche. So basically if you like snacks, and little bites, and can't make up your mind at a restaurant and want to try lots of different things- then ja, this is your jam. Okay, I've run out of reasons. Just come man. It's lekker.

36 today! I tried to find a cute recent picture of myself and realised I don't have any. My gallery is basically screenshots of books I want to read, and my son's feet, hands, cute face etc. So this will have to do! Here's me in the kitchen with a glass of bubbly, post-bedtime routine and lounge tidying. Birthdays are looking a little different, but I'm feeling reflective today. I've realised that I LOVE my thirties. I have less shits to give, but I give them to things that matter. And I give them wholeheartedly. I am still impatient, but working on it. I've figured that I have quite a lot to offer, but also a lot to learn. I am learning to slow down a little, and appreciate the small things. But I'm also trying hard to ramp it up in certain areas, to be brave and take risks. I have a son who teaches me every day, and a husband who supports my wild and crazy ideas. I am surrounded by the most incredible family and friends who have been a soft place to land when life gets challenging. I am so grateful to God for my years on this earth and I hope to fulfill all that he has planned for me. To keep playing, to keep trusting. To keep looking for magic. ❀

Every reader also received their own copy of the book to take home and enjoy - thank you @openbookfest and @bianca.flanders #youthfestival #libraryweek #africanwriters #bookbybook #readtodream
