I’ve not only never painted poppies in a field, I’ve never even seen them in real life! We all squealed when we saw this beautiful composition and knew we wanted to paint it. This morning we spent several hours in the field (literally) and then had an afternoon of watercolor and sketching at a 13th century water mill!! Featuring work by all the amazing artists who have traveled across the world to paint with me. 🥰

I was born on the prairie of the Texas Panhandle and the Caprock of the massive Llano Estacado. I’ve lived my life as a flatlander and to see this much green, this much blue water, so many rolling hills, villages, and amazing detail in the land is almost overwhelming.
Today’s #pleinair demonstration was thrilling. I don’t believe I’ve ever felt so held by a workshop group. Their kindness, encouragement, and enthusiasm is something so special. I’m holding onto each moment, so thankful to be healthy enough to be here and to feel joy in the process and the mess. Here’s to happy accidents and laughing and laughing and laughing.
