Mark of A Woman by Chisato Minamimura
“Tracing the relationship between women’s bodies tattooing practises”
Mark of A Woman explores tattooing culture to confront the invisible marks society places on women’s bodies—the expectations, judgments, and constraints that define womanhood across cultures and generations.
Through a striking fusion of Visual Vernacular, ASL, digital animation, kinetic projection and Woojer™ technology, acclaimed artist Chisato Minamimura draws on her own experiences to explore how gender is inscribed onto our bodies from birth. This powerful performance asks critical questions of our world. Can we ever escape the marks others place upon us? And what happens when we reclaim the power to mark ourselves?

Theatre Passe Muraille is excited to support the book launch & reading of Hilot Means Healer by Jo SiMalaya Alcampo. Presented by 2026 ArtsEverywhere Festival and Musagetes Foundation in partnership with TPM.
Set in Manila, during World War II, and drawn from the long tradition of Philippine folklore, legends, and Indigenous spirituality. Hilot Means Healer weaves the tangible with the intangible to tell a story of unexpected bonds formed during cataclysmic change. As a family attempts to heal soul wounds born from atrocities and occupation, through the touch of plants and the garden of a healer.
This reading of Hilot Means Healer features a cast of actors and a musician, MaryCarl Guiao playing indigenous instruments including the kulintang. Directed by TPM's Marjorie Chan.
The event starts with a complimentary breakfast and concludes with a reception and book signing with Jo. Saturday, May 9, 2026 at River Run Centre, Guelph.
