Posting some R&D shots from our basketball project for people who want to reference the light or materials!
Should we drop a tutorial on how to make these? Let me know!
Hereās some BTS from our latest project. As you can see, the main tool we used was the camera itself - just like in most of our videos. I believe that if you want to achieve more cinematic shots in your work, you should study how speed ramping, camera movement, and compositing work together.
Use this video as a reference for how I combined all these seemingly simple elements effectively. You might need to watch it a couple of times to catch everything thatās really going on. š
Edit: Audio is bugged, sorry!
Some satisfying loops for you to chill to š

If you struggle to find inspiration as an artist, read this - it might help you outā¦
I really believe that when you hit a creative block, the worst thing you can do is sit in front of your computer staring at a blank canvas, hoping an idea will just appear. Instead, I think itās way better to get up and look for inspiration out in the real world. Go do things you enjoy - things you actually love doing.
Why? Because when youāre doing something you genuinely enjoy, you become present. You notice whatās right in front of you, and believe it or not, thatās fuel for creativity. It gives your mind space to wander and come up with ideas naturally, without forcing anything.
Donāt believe me? Think about this - some of your best ideas probably showed up randomly, while you were doing something totally unrelated to your craft. These days weāre constantly consuming content & information, which makes it hard for the mind to rest. But when you take action upon something without thinking, you make space for ideas to come to you - instead of chasing them. Thereās a huge difference.
Iām saying all of this because Iāve been stuck many times as an artist. And most of the time, I got through it by doing something completely different.
In this case, I finally had time to do a personal project - it couldāve been anything, really - but the endless options made me freeze up. I ended up procrastinating and wasting the valuable time I had worked so hard to make for myself during my busy days. So where did the inspiration come from? Simple - I was playing basketball with my friends & on the way home, the idea just popped into my head. I already knew exactly how I wanted the whole video to look.
For this project, I did the animation and compositing. The materials and lighting were done by my team at @beyondmotion.co
Iāll be uploading more videos from this project in the next few days, so keep an eye out!
Also thinking of starting some tutorials on these if people are interested š

This is the final post about this Lucid passion project, I promise! š
My account is very animation heavy, so I decided to post this for the people who enjoy some good old static shots. I sometimes kinda wish that instagram doesnāt require you to post reels so much to get traction on your account, but hey it is what it is, we go with the flow. š¤·āāļø
If you like what you see, have a look at my channel you can see some of these shots animated āļø
I recently ran an experiment where I asked an AI to animate a static shot from one of our videos, and the results were, to say the least, disappointing.
In the Motion Design industry, itās still impossible to rely on AI, and thatās likely to remain the case for a while. The reason is simple: motion design is often highly dynamic, composition-specific, and carefully crafted with a story, music, and sound design in mind. There are just too many variables and too many contextual nuances for current AI models to comprehend.
Thatās why you need real artists. People who deeply connect with and understand the project far beyond its visual surface.
Now, I do believe AI will keep improving at an exponential pace. But in creative fields, human input will continue to be both necessary and crucial, especially if you want to stand out.
Yes, itās possible that in the future, mainstream AI tools will generate stunning visuals that anyone can produce. But only a few people with taste will know how to tell stories that genuinely resonate. And those people will become even more valuable. Because at the end of the day, AI is just another tool - something creative people use, not something that replaces them.
Real artists may become rare, but I believe the ones who remain will shape the future of this industry. So, if you can survive long enough, you just might become one of the greats.
And if youāre looking for someone who can help you cut through the noise, shoot me a message.
This is another comparison between the viewport preview and the final render for our Lucid passion project.
When working on 3D projects, we usually share a similar version with the client to plan camera movement, composition, and pacing before diving into lighting, materials, and sound effects.

This is a comparison between the viewport preview and the final animation.
For people curious about the process of making these videos, we show this animation to the client before we dive into lighting and materials, so it saves us time if there's any feedback on the composition/camera work/timing, etc.

Hereās another cut from our Lucid passion project. This one was a thrill to work on, especially the camera movement. We used close-up shots to highlight the intricate details of the carās interior in an abstract, cinematic way.
Let me know what you think!
