đ¤đCELEBRATE ASK A MATE DAY 2026đđ¤
Thanks to @brisbanecitycouncil for the Kangaroo Point Bridge light-up tonight, celebrating Ask a Mate Day 2026!!
.au
The Great Mate Awards were created to recognise the men showing up for young people in everyday ways: the coaches, mentors, teammates, teachers, dads, colleagues and mates helping shape healthier ideas of masculinity, respect and care.â
â
This Ask A Mate Day, weâre proud to celebrate this yearâs winners from across Australia. Thank you to everyone who nominated someone in their community and helped shine a light on the everyday role models making a difference.â
â
These conversations and examples matter more than ever.â
â
Congratulations to all of our 2026 Great Mate Award winners. đ
Congratulations to our 2026 National Great Mate Award winner, Joey Butler!â
â
As Director of Singleton High School Clontarf Academy, Joey shows up every day for more than 130 Aboriginal boys, from 6am training sessions to cultural, academic and sporting opportunities that help build confidence and connection.â
â
Joey leads by example, showing what consistency, care and positive male role modelling can look like in everyday life.
đ¤đ TODAY IS ASK A MATE DAY!!! đđ¤
Anyone can celebrate Ask A Mate Day. Itâs all about showing up, whether thatâs a quick check-in, a call or a shared activity: these are the things young men notice and learn from.
If youâre in Brisbane, head down to the Kangaroo Point Bridge and be part of a visible show of support as it lights up for Ask A Mate Day.
The Ask a Mate team will be there from 6pm to 7pm!

Enormous thanks to Taylah from Young Folks for securing these pro bono and to Bishopp and QMS for supporting our Ask a Mate Day campaign!
Today I was honoured and humbled to be named "Queensland Volunteer of the Year" at the Volunteering Queensland Awards.
Being surrounded by Craig, my girls, my Dad and father-in-law, as well as my dear friend Bern made the event even more special because this will always be a grassroots, family charity and, although I have led the organisation as a volunteer for almost nine years, there are so many others who have also given their time and expertise to ensure that everything we do is as impactful as possible.
Congratulations to the two other finalists- Alina Graham and Janelle Clarke who are both doing incredible work in their community. And to all the finalists and winners in the five other categories- thank you for the work you do.
Enormous thanks to @volunteeringqld for hosting such a beautiful, heartfelt event celebrating all volunteers.
Honestly, I was quite overcome with emotion when I felt and saw the love and support of the community in the room today- something that I'm certain I will never forget.đ
One more day till Ask A Mate day!â

Anyone can celebrate Ask A Mate Day. Itâs all about showing up, whether thatâs a quick check-in, a call or a shared activity: these are the things young men notice and learn from. â
â
If youâre not sure where to start, here are a few simple ways to show up today.â
â
And if youâre in Brisbane, head down to the Kangaroo Point Bridge and be part of a visible show of support as it lights up for Ask A Mate.â
Sometimes itâs hard to know what to say, especially when you want to show up for someone but donât want to push too hard.â
â
On Ask A Mate Day, itâs not about having the perfect conversation but about making space for one.â
â
A simple question can be enough to open the door and let someone know they donât have to figure everything out on their own.â
â
What questions would you add?
