🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️ Today is the International Day Against LGBTIQA+ Discrimination.
Research by the National LGBTI Health Alliance shows that LGBTQIA+ young people are twice as likely to be homeless as the general population.
To address this imbalance, we need funding for more targeted accommodation and support to offer safe options for LGBTIQA+ people in crisis.
🥳🎂🎈The Wodonga Education First Youth (EFY) Foyer has turned one!
It was great to see so many people turn out to celebrate the success of the EFY Foyer and to hear some genuinely inspiring testimonies from the young people who call it home.
A big thank you to @wodonga_tafe , @junctionsupportservices and @brotherhoodstlaurence , who delivered the EFY Foyer with us, and @homesvic for funding its construction.

Our staff carry out regular inspections on our properties. We also have contractors for repairs and maintenance.
As a not-for-profit organisation that relies on rental income to maintain our properties, it’s very important to us that our houses are well looked after.
We manage more than 1,000 tenancies, and the overwhelming majority of our properties are well maintained by the people who call them home.
📅 𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹 𝗶𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄
It was another big month for us. In April, we:
🤝 Supported 𝟰𝟭𝟮 people experiencing or at risk of homelessness
🛏️ Provided 𝟲𝟴𝟭 nights of crisis accommodation
𝘞𝘩𝘰 𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘰𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘴 𝘸𝘦 𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘨𝘦❓
Our social houses are rented to people on the Victorian Housing Register.
People can only be added to the register if they are an Australian Citizen or permanent resident and meet the income and asset limits.
We look to house people within their existing communities, ensuring they maintain their supports and connections.
People can find themselves in need of social housing for many reasons, including escaping family violence, being unable to work due to disability, or simply falling on hard times.

📢 The state government's commitment to building 7,000 extra social houses over the next decade is a step in the right direction.
We're advocating for rural and regional Victoria to receive a strong portion of these properties, and for further investment to be made in programs that help people stay housed and supported.
