We love to see the creative ways our customers install their banners! This is the Japanese Print Woman Banner. She purchased 2 so she could display both sides and show them off from her 6th floor balcony.
"My dog Horatio loves to sit on a comfy lawn chair inside the alcove that the banners make." Judith, Drexel Hill, PA

Degas and Arcimboldo
The beauty of one of Edgar Degas's ballerinas graces the front of 13 banners from the Denver Art Museum. His "The Dance Examination" from 1880 embodies the delicacy of Degas's coloration and the sensitivity with which he viewed dancers and their craft. Flip the banner over to reveal the work of Italian Renaissance painter Giuseppe Arcimboldo. Featuring "Summer" from a 1572 series of the seasons, the work is both a masterpiece of craftsmanship and a playful visual puzzle. Look closely to see how the fruits and vegetables of summer come together to create the portrait!

In Tibet, the pantheon of Buddhist deities includes the five Dhyani Buddhas, "Great Buddhas of Wisdom". Each represents one human failing that must be overcome in order to achieve enlightenment: ignorance, anger, pride, attachment, and jealousy. Representing the power of the mind over jealousy is the Buddha Amoghasiddhi. These banners feature a 12th-century statue of Amoghasiddhi seated majestically with one hand raised in a gesture of fearlessness against evil.

Two Vibes, One Pipe!
.
The exhibition "Magritte and Contemporary Art: The Treachery of Images" offered up great works by the Belgian artist in an environment designed to make LACMA visitors part of Magritte's surreal world. It is from one of Magritte's iconic works, "The Treachery of Images (This is not a pipe)" that the show took its name. And it is this image that is featured on banners from the exhibition. The simple, cleanly rendered brown pipe has become synonymous with surrealism and the work of René Magritte. Enlarged on these banners, it brings wit, whimsy, and drama to the real world.

Map geeks!
The cities of Baltimore and Chicago both hosted festivals of maps - celebrations of how we define and navigate our world. In conjunction with the Baltimore event, the Walters Art Museum hosted Maps: Finding our Way in the World, displaying over 100 of the rarest, most beautiful, and most unusual maps ever made.

One side features a 17th-century Ottoman map which shows a mosque-dotted Nile snaking through Egypt.

The other side (not shown in this post) shows a 1949 map of the London subway system - the simple graphic design by Harry Beck still defines the city's tube maps today.
