At dawn, the Taj Mahal seems to vibrate and dissolve into the ether. It belongs to the air and the sky, not the earth. It’s almost too perfect. But the earthly pleasures of its precursor, Humayun’s Tomb in Delhi truly left me breathless.
Manny thanks to @skiselin for the gorgeous photos!
India thoughts, starting with Udaipur, the achingly beautiful city of lakes. In James Bond lore, the palace rising from the center of Lake Pichola was Octopussy’s lair

It’s a wrap, 2025! In an extraordinary year filled with inspiration, beauty, travel, and dream projects, hard to pick favorites, but here are a few: 3 trips to London (!) for the Big Egg Hunt Auction, the opening of “Marie Antoinette Style” at the V@A , and my talk there, trips to Granada, Seville, and Cordoba and an artist’s residency in Tangier at the Mothership. Most of all, thanks to special friends and family who traveled from near and far to see my work, and to @sarahgrantcurator and @vamuseum for the opportunity to indulge my Marie Antoinette fantasies!

What a tremendous honor to be invited to speak with at the Victoria & Albert Museum last night about my commission, “Marie Antoinette’s Folly!” The project took 14 months to make and contains over 4,500 porcelain elements, each made by hand, one flower petal at a time. The icing on the cake was the chance to discuss my creative process with the brilliant curator, Dr. Sarah Grant. Thank you to all who attended, especially to my wonderful friends and family who traveled all the way across the pond to cheer me on. Still walking on air!

Many thanks to @cabanamagazine for such a wonderful profile, and special thanks to @emmabecque for her thoughtful questions and insights about my artistic process, timed with the “Marie Antoinette Style” exhibition at @vamuseum
“Beth Katleman describes her work as “impolite wallpaper,” but the label hardly captures the scale or precision of her porcelain reliefs. From a studio in Brooklyn, she casts thousands of tiny objects then assembles them into theatrical wall installations that borrow from Toile de Jouy, chinoiserie, and Rococo design. Katleman’s compositions are both playful and obsessive, drawing on centuries of ornament while unpicking its conventions. The result is a world built in porcelain with nothing quite where you expect it.” Link in bio for the full story.

Have you spotted Marie Antoinette’s Folly yet?
Behind the evening gowns by John Galliano and Maria Grazia Chiuri for Christian Dior you can see Marie Antoinette’s Folly by artist Beth Katleman.
At first glance, Katleman’s work looks enticing, but as you look closer, it reveals a story about excess and downfall. It parodies The Swing, a famous painting by 18th-century French Rococo artist Jean-Honoré Fragonard, showing Louis XVI pushing Marie Antoinette on a swing while her lover, Comte Fersen, watches. In another part, the palace of Versailles is shown being stormed by a mob, hinting at the impending collapse of the monarchy.
