My “Gin Gin” passed away last week. I have her name, Elizabeth. She went by Bette, I went by Beth. But I’ve always been thankful to have her name. There was so much I admired about her. For starters, she was very flexible. 😆 She could put both hands flat on the floor, straight legged. I can barely touch my ankles. She was so full of life and energy and joy. The first slide of her is when she was 91 years old 🤯 at my sister’s wedding
@kate_loukos , just breaking out into a little dance and showing off her moves. It’s one of my favorite videos ever. I hope it brings a smile to your face.
She volunteered countless hours at meals on wheels, the local hospital, and her local food pantry. She raised 5 daughters and buried one son. She greatly loved my sweet granddaddy, their 5 kids (and son in laws), 11 grandkids, and countless great grands. She loved Jesus and lived a life that showed it.
One of my cousins
@thebenlanders pointed out how she had so many grandkids, but made each one of us feel special. When she’d visit our house as a kid, she and granddad would take my room and she’d always leave me a thank you note and a dollar. She’d invite us all to the mountains for a week every summer and let us eat ice cream for breakfast on our last day there. She and granddad went on a cross country camper trip with my family (and Ben and Reese’s too) when I was 13 and I mostly remember her yummy food and her contagious laugh. When I graduated from college they let me live with them for 8 months while I was in transition. They prayed for me, fed me, and made me laugh the whole time I was there.
I cried when she passed, just shy of her 99th birthday. Not because I was sad, but because I was so happy she would finally get to be face to face with Jesus, who she loved all her life. And she’s finally reunited with my granddad and the little boy they always dreamed about meeting in Heaven one day.
I also want to acknowledge that she was the last of my 4 amazing grandparents to pass - all of which I got to watch my mom and dad selflessly care for over the years. They are amazing and I love them so much. I’m so thankful for family. 🤍
