Beth and Carter tour rolled on through the last day in Denmark via cab, train, and ferry, with a weird trip to Carrot Town aka the Hirtshals train station. I taught Carter some oldtime tunes, where we re-wrote Don't Drink Nothin But Corn, swigged Gammel Dansk in a bus stop, and saw real life warnings of quicksand. Its that tour day when everything dumb is funny and nothing is easy as it should be. But then we made it to our friend Anne Lene's house by the sea in Norway and feel like we are in heaven. I'm having a damn fun time in Denmark, landed Wednesday in Copenhagen for a sold out show @rustkbh with @creekbedcarter and then bussed and vanned our way to Aalborg for Shelter From The Storm fest @skraaen where the fun is just about to begin with sets with Willi Carlisle and Carter and a bunch of great folks like @rachelbaiman @chrisacker_growthsprout @thecountrysideofharmonicasam . Tomorrow @voxhall.dk with Willi and Carter, then trains and a big ferry to NORWAY!

I found a treasure trove of Riesa pics after digging through boxes all day. I hope yall can see why we loved her so much.

Alaska lost one of her brightest and wildest honkytonk angels yesterday- Riesa Rose passed on after a battle with cervical cancer. Riesa was one of my best friends and longtime party pal. We spent hundreds of nights together as youngsters, busking at the grocery store, howlin on the Golden eagle porch, pickin til dawn around the woodstove. She taught me how to fiddle over swing tunes, gave me courage to sing more, and helped me write better tunes. Riesa was a never ending well of writing songs and could dig up the best old classics and make em her own. She could make any lil shack feel like a home and could tough out the harshest conditions like a true survivalist. I spent one summer shacking up with her at one of the classic fairbanks hippie squatters cabins and she showed me the ropes of haulin water, bucket baths, making a perfect fire, and livin the high life off the grid. She could drive me crazy when she was on a tear and then draw me back in the next day with her sweet smile, kind heart, and a brand new song she wrote while making coffee. When I left Alaska and moved to Texas I lamented not having Riesa in my daily life, only to see my sister step in as her new best pal and they started playing together all the time. Tara even starred in the musical based on Riesa's songs "Out There Honkytonkin." She joked that she was the third Chrisman sister and people often assumed we were related for real. I hope the last stage of her journey was easy and pain free, and she can hear all of us singing her songs and know she will always be with us. Sending all my love to Riesa's family and our Alaska family.
