I realize that my only real engagement with this platform beyond baby donkey vids has been posting for Charlie’s birthday, which is today. I know that there are many on *here* who love him - so I thought today, so we can properly honor him, should be the day to share that Char left us unexpectedly earlier this year, almost 9 months ago now. The heartbreak has been pretty unprecedented! Oddly enough it took losing my dog-boy to really understand what Joan meant when she explained “magical thinking.” Maybe if I never announced it … maybe I’d still get to see the silhouette of his ears when I pull into the driveway? “Magical” or “clinically unwell”? Anyone’s guess, but I’ll trust Joan. Thank you to everyone who loved the boi like their own. Chunky Charbag forever. 😇 🦇 🕊️ Finally - I credit Charlie 100% for my love of rescue dogs, for every foster we’ve had, and for changing my heart forever this way. Please consider donating to @maedayrescue in his honor, he had the patience to deal with a few puppies and some other good boys who got their forever homes because of him. Finally - thanks @jenna__katz for immortalizing him so perfectly.

Catching up with our short but very sweet time in Lisbon and an overdue toe-dip in the Atlantic. People tend to make a place, and @instafiji @dairecollins generously shared more than a little slice of their ✨ (and incredible homemade beach sandwiches) to really put a bow on an amazing week in Portugal.
