Life lately - mostly beyond the canvas.
Over the past couple months, I started some really big paintings, lost a pet (hamster Huey) as he died in my hands, petted sheep with my seester, played silly board games in Breckenridge, got a concussion in a scary bike accident, laid in bed a lot, got lots of puppy snugs, had skin cancer removed from my arm, went to a red rocks show with my childhood bestie in the freezing rain and cried my eyes out the whole set (Iāve been very emotional), ate lots of ice cream, packed up my studio, and started moving into a new one.
Itās been a lot. Itās been really good. And really hard. I guess thatās usually how life is š Iāve barely been painting, and my soul can really feel it. So Iām eager to start a new chapter in a new studio.
Cheers to life š„ Thanks for being here.
New studio incoming!!! š¦šØ Iāve loved my current studio at @continuum.art.studios and Iām going to miss it a ton, but over the next few weeks, Iāll be packing and moving to my new studio at the Foothills Art Center in Golden, CO!
Iām really excited for this next season in a new studio - I could use a fresh start. But this move is really bittersweet and the end of a big chapter š„¹
ART FRIENDS IN THE AREA:
Iāll be having a big studio sale with a bunch of art supplies, studio furniture, and festival booth supplies that I no longer use or want to bring with me to the new place. Iāll be selling stuff super cheap since I just want stuff to go to someone who will use it. Iāll keep you posted on what will be included!
šļø My plan is to do this studio sale on Saturday May 9th!
And if youāre looking for a studio in the south Denver/Englewood area, let me know and I can pass along your info to the owners of @continuum.art.studios - itās such a great spot and I have nothing but good things to say about the building and the other artists there.
Big paintings are in the works! Iām going to need a trailer this year to transport them to festivals, but itās so worth it because I love painting so big!
Art festival applications are in! Well, about half of them. Iāve applied to seven so far, been rejected to one, and have about eight more to apply to in the coming months!
Iām hoping itāll be a busy year! š
Stay tuned for my event schedule, loads of new work, and BIG work!!
The making of āWandering in Your Warmthā - the painting that started my obsession with trees. š
The reference photo for this one was taken on a fall hike with two of my best friends (last photo - unedited, which is crazy because itās like a rainbow of color). It was an easy hike, or at least it was easy for us because we didnāt make it to the top. We were losing daylight and a storm was rolling in, so we turned around about halfway through. But that didnāt matter. The company mattered. The earth changing color all around us mattered. The fresh mountain air among the pine trees mattered. I love that memory of us wandering together, and this was me trying to capture it in paint.
I finished the painting last May, just in time to put her in my solo show āWandering,ā and then she travelled with me around the state to some art festivals over the summer.
We had a good time together, but she found her forever home recently āŗļø
