Friday Black History Spotlight belongs to Dr William Albert Love Dr. William Albert Love, born on October 10, 1888, in West River, Maryland. His parents, Reverend Julius C. Love and Susie H. Carr-Love, were devoted to academic and moral excellence, instilling these values in their four sons. As the second oldest, Dr. Love pursued higher education at Howard University, where he became a charter member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.. His family’s legacy of leadership extended further, as his brother, Edgar Amos Love, was among the fraternity’s founders. After earning his degree from Howard University in 1914, Dr. Love relocated to Kansas City to begin his medical career. His formative experiences at Howard played a significant role in his leadership trajectory, ultimately inspiring him to unite fellow fraternity brothers and establish the Beta Omega Chapter in 1922, becoming the second chapter chartered in the Eighth District. Dr. Love quickly became a respected figure in the Kansas City community, also serving as chairman of the board for the Black‑owned Douglas State Bank. His dedication to service extended through more than five decades of professional and community leadership. He was also an active member of Mason Memorial United Methodist Church in Kansas City, Kansas. So today we highlight Dr. Love’s legacy of unwavering leadership, resilience, and a lifelong commitment to uplifting others. His significant contributions to the Kansas City community, stands as a testament to the strength and perseverance of African Americans during a challenging era in American history. #kcques #oppf #8thdistrict #omicronxi
