It's #CleanSportWeek!
Equestrian athletes form a unique dual partnership and both the human athlete and the equine athlete must strictly obey anti-doping rules.
Competition rules don't allow use of many prohibited substances and even accidental contamination can lead to disqualification.
How do you protect your horse from accidental positives? Look for the BETA NOPS logo.
The British Equestrian Trade Association (BETA) established the Natural and Other Prohibited Substances (NOPS) code to help manufacturers minimise the risk of naturally occurring contaminants (like caffeine from cacao, morphine from poppy seeds, or hyoscine from nightshade) making their way into feed.
When you choose a BETA NOPS accredited product, you are choosing a brand that undergoes stringent, independent annual audits and rigorous risk-assessments from field to feed sack. It is the gold standard for feed safety and your best line of defense in keeping your equine athlete clean.
BETA doesn't stop at the manufacturing plant. Feed safety also relies heavily on getting the right advice.
To combat misinformation and ensure horse owners receive evidence-based, safe nutritional guidance, BETA created ENFAR (the Equine Nutritionist and Feed Adviser Register).
What is ENFAR? It is a strict professional register certifying that your nutritionist or feed adviser has passed rigorous assessments in feed safety, legislation, and NOPS risks.
By promoting ENFAR, BETA ensures that the people advising you on your horse's diet are fully trained to keep your horse healthy, legal, and ready for clean competition.

This #CleanSportWeek, let's protect the integrity of our sport and the welfare of our horses. Check your feed bags for the BETA NOPS logo and trust your horse's diet to an ENFAR-registered professional! ššāØ
