Having shared plenty of laughs since first answering a cold call email 10 years ago, it’s a damn privilege to be in the studio with my @princedaddyandthehyena friends again. FUCK they can play. 10 warm white claws at 2 am crushing vocal takes? No problem. Could we have used the first full band take? Yup. Did we keep rippn’ till it was 100% when anyone else’s hands would of fallen off ? Definitely. Every member is a master of their craft. Kory’s songwriting is grown up but still makes me feel like the first time I heard punk rock . Introducing FILM, formed in 2021 by Joe Reinhart (Algernon Cadwallader, Hop Along) TJ DeBlois (A Life Once Lost, Halfway To Holland, Like Lions) & Ken Vasoli (The Starting Line, Vacationer). First single, “Roundabout” out now. Debut record, “Permanence” comes out May 22nd on Lauren Records. These initial sessions were tracked in Spring 2022 at Headroom Studios, Philadelphia, originally intended as a demo. In a tragic turn of events, our dear friend and drummer TJ DeBlois suddenly passed away in January 2023 at the age of 38.
After a period of bereavement we, Joe & Ken, picked up the task of completing these recordings to properly honor our fallen brother and immortalize his shining final performance. The result is this very raw and personal album.
FILM remains united in loud music, and have subsequently recruited the decorated drumming expertise of Chris Wilson (Hammered Hulls, Ted Leo and The Pharmacists, Titus Andronicus) to complete the 3-piece.

OCT 11 We are having another open house! It was such a great vibe last time, we decided to do it again. This time we are teaming up with our friends at @schwabedigital to help host this little open-invite-get-together for all of the music makers around the greater Philadelphia area. @ryanschwabe_ will be demo’ing his latest creation HIFAL, as well as giving people a sneak peek at what else he and his team are cooking up. Frances Quinlan will be curating the musical vibes, and we will have drinks and snacks (but feel free to BYOB as well). Park wherever and follow the signs 🤘

Heard from @algernoncadwalladerband guitarists Joe Reinhart and Colin Mahony about the making of reunion album Trying Not to Have a Thought — which volleys quick-sliding phrases and arpeggiated hypnotism between the pair.
Colin and Joe hit on: riding the k-hole together while writing the twitchily grooved, quixotic-noted “noitanitsarcorP”; secret ska riffs; jamming Metallica riffs with kids at Guitar Center; and how sometimes “it’s more fun not playing a million things the whole time.”
