What’s supposed to be a 5-hour drive somehow turned into almost 8… again.
At this point anytime Mr. Jon Wells and I travel together, you can just assume it’s going to involve extra miles, questionable navigation, and some kind of adventure. Not really sure how we keep doing it, but we’re consistent. #teamsidetrack
Managed to pull off 1st in Factory and 4th place overall out of 110 shooters, dropping 17 points over 20 stages. (19 if you ask
@yimmysteel ) The
@seekinsprecision_official and I finally decided to cooperate this weekend and form a healthy working relationship.
Big realization happened on stage 3 when I figured out my dope was off. Made the correction on the fly and stuck with it the rest of the match. Also learned this lesson from New Mexico earlier this year… and thankfully it didn’t take me 15 stages this time to figure it out.
Always a great weekend seeing friends and making a few new ones.
As always,
@bestofthewestoutfitters and
@yimmysteel put on an incredible match. We had so many laughs and great times.
On a more serious note, I want to say thank you to the companies that support these matches.
I’m terrible about posting what I grab off the prize table, but it deserves recognition. Over the last few matches I’ve literally collected enough parts to build another rifle.

Without companies stepping up and supporting these events, the prize tables and matches wouldn’t be what they are.
As a Match Director, I’ve seen firsthand how difficult it is to secure sponsorships. It takes time, effort, and relationships — and the one thing that shouldn’t be overlooked is simply saying thank you.
These companies support our sport and our matches. As shooters, we should do a better job showing appreciation when they do.
The sport doesn’t grow without them.
