I had so much fun putting this act together. It had been YEARS since I have performed a grinder act in front of an audience and when @dawndlove decided to put together a cabaret show this year at @emergenceburn with @bespoke.house.portal she inspired me to break out the old metal lady bits! The theme for this years burn was mythical absurdities. I had recently had a friend @miminouveau_ who passed and received one of her amazing creations, this epic wig and Valkarie headpiece which inspired me to create this mad max Tina turner Valkarie! It was my way of honoring her as the Valkarie she now is and speaking to what we are all going through as a collective. We don’t need another hero, it’s time we become our own! What started as a dream.. became the embodiment of a dragon fully realized..Thanks to my incredible partner @wrappedintimedesigns who brought it into form, hand wire-wrapping each piece into a wearable expression of fire: a sculpted bra, dragon horn crown & middle finger claw cages.. accented in copper, labradorite stones & dragon scales made from clay, pieces kiln fired right there at Emergence & woven in day of... Debuted for the first time in flame at Nocturne..a cabaret I curated and performed in at @bespoke.house.portal There’s something powerful about watching an idea move from imagination into art you can step into… something you can embody. What started nearly 4 years ago as something we could barely name — just a feeling, a signal, a possibility — is now fully alive. To witness this vision take form at the level it did… alongside so many beloveds… there aren’t really words for that. Gratitude doesn’t quite touch it. To every artist, builder, facilitator, and soul who poured themselves into @bespoke.house.portal last week — you felt it. I’m quite certain that this was a living field that every person who experienced us could literally feel in their bones. Something real got built out there. At one point during the week, something landed for me alongside @_mayarosa_ These spaces we create — burns, gatherings, late-night temples — they’re not just an escape from the “default world.” They’re a response to it. Because the default world often doesn’t have the capacity to hold what we actually are. The depth. The sensitivity. The light. So we build new containers. Wow, I’m not sure words can actually describe the magick that was experienced and created last weekend at @emergenceburn this past weekend. I am again left in awe and gratitude of the amazing community of people I get to surround myself with to collaborate within this creative cauldron we all add our magick into. It’s truly beautiful to be a part of this experience and co creation with so many magickal, talented, and beautiful beings. I met some beautiful souls, had meaningful exchanges, and felt the depth of what we’re building as a community. And what a powerful community we are! Thank you to my campmates at @bespoke.house.portal for coming together to create space for us all to explore and express ourselves. We truly created a magickal world, our own museum of mythos that kept evolving throughout the weekend. To see everyone contribute their skills, art, and energy was pure magick. Thank you also to the amazing leadership of this burn and the organizers and artists that come together to make it happen and hold space for us all to create within. To everyone who came through Bespoke, who shared space, energy, conversation, a dance, and their presence, thank you. So many moments of connection, creativity, and magick woven together naturally happening through all of us showing up as we are! I’ve been a little quiet on here, but busy in the real world. I am proud to announce the completion of the first phase of a new soundsystem, @bespokehifi 🌹 Bespoke House is a forward-thinking sound stage camp making waves at both Alchemy Burn in Georgia and Emergence Burn in South Carolina. I am part of the Bespoke House leadership council and current TCO. We desperately needed a departure from our weak commercial sound system in order to fully convey the ideas we had about music curation and how to engage a dance floor. After a couple years of researching and daydreaming, a door opened for us financially and we took the opportunity to pursue building our Ferrari. It’s finally just come off the test track ❤️‍🔥 Welcome Bespoke HiFi: (4) Dual 18” Subwoofer cabinets designed by @bcspeakers (4) 12” custom coaxial tops designed by me and tuned by @dorlester (2) CVR DSP 4x2000w amps These subwoofers require cnc to cut the panels and a skilled hand to assemble. They really challenged me but the highly refined and complex 6th order bandpass design by B&C really shines. They are incredibly articulate and precise with exceptional power density. On the dance floor that means rich clarity throughout their range, deep deep bass, and a physicality often left to systems with a much larger footprint. The chest punch is real. The coaxial tops are a nod to the horn loaded coaxials proven to be dance floor effective by Danley’s SM80. This box is entirely different physically, but follows the same principles in terms of crossover points and concept. This little 12” driver from B&C is a monster. Incredibly efficient and powerful enough in the 180-220 hz range to keep up with our stack of subwoofers, at least for our smaller crowds. Upon finding out that my friend @dorlester had already built a crossover and established some proven FIR for this driver, it was a no brainer to sync up and run his technicals alongside my box design. I think we got a real winner here for our current scope. From our campmates and volunteers who helped build the space, to every artist, performer, and person who bought a ticket and stepped into the container with us. These experiences and spaces only exist because of all of you who show up to create it! Spaces like this are never created by one person. They happen when a community comes together with intention, creativity, and trust. We are so grateful to be surrounded by people who show up, contribute, and help create places where we can express ourselves, grow, and thrive together. We’ve been quietly building something behind the scenes. Introducing @bespokehifi ✨ our new custom, built by us, high fidelity sound system designed by @alwayschasingmusic . Four dual-18 subwoofer cabinets, four coaxial 12” mid-tops, all B&C drivers, custom mid-top crossovers by @dorlester , one-of-a-kind midtop cabinet design, hand built by the DJs behind Bespoke House. It doesn’t get much more DIY than this. This thing reaches low, kicks hard, and transmits vocal and instrument frequencies with gripping clarity. We’ve still got some tuning, adjustments, and additions to do as we grow into it, but this sports car is officially ready to leave the driveway. We’ll be deploying the full rig for the first time ever this Saturday, Feb 28th for our Emergence Burn fundraiser at Blue Mark studios in Atlanta. Get there.
