Een klein jaar geleden werd ik gecontacteerd door Jonathan Jetten. De meesterdag dromer uit Brugge wilde weten of ik het zag zitten om eens een script van hem door te nemen. Het bleek om een verhaal te gaan geschreven voor onze jeugd. Hij had er ook een bijzonder leuk vraagje achter aan gestuurd...
"Of ik dit jeugdboek wilde illustreren?"

Na het doornemen van het script was mijn antwoord een heerlijke ja!!
En na een prachtig avontuur dat voorbij is gevlogen mag ik hier met bijzonder veel pret en kriebels in mijn buik het boek aan jullie voorstellen:

Morgen in Brugge is de officiële lancering met persvoorstelling. Ik kan niet wachten!!

Let me show you the 3 coffee mugs i loved the most myself. Probably because these 3 birds i drew are my most favourite garden birds of them all. Super happy with how these came out. From left to right: a Thrush, Crested Tit and a House Sparrow.
I am humbled by all your words and the interest you all seem to have in these coffee mugs. Working on a new series as we speak and a shop front to sell them in. All of these will be unique one of a kind hand drawn mugs.

Here are 4 more coffee mugs in the flemish back garden birds theme. On some of them i used the whole roundness of the mug from 'ear to ear'.. quite the challenge.
From left to right you see a Great Tit, a Jay, one Magpie and a Wren.

The past few weeks I've been designing coffee mugs with ceramic paint. These were the first 4 of in total 23 mugs.

My mom came up with the idea to give these mugs to her colleagues as a retirement gift from her to them, filled with chocolate eggs. All of them drawn by me. As her son i took the challenge upon me to dive into the art of painting directly on a very curved object with thick ceramic paint markers. Not the easiest thing to work with and the wrist was more often than not hovering in unnatural positions.. 😅
In the end though after seeing it baked in the oven this was a very rewarding experience..
We went with the theme of 'birds we find in our own backyard'. They represent her colleagues she leaves behind while she flies into freedom and retirement.
