As the year comes to a close, I’ve been reflecting a lot.
One sentence I’ve heard throughout my life keeps coming back: “If you’re not building, you’re destroying.”
It connects with another idea I once heard (paraphrased): “It’s hard to try to save the world part-time while others are destroying it full-time.”
And this too, from Jon Hassler: “One can’t quit working to better the world just because the world is old and set in its ways. The enormity of a job is no reason not to do the job.”
These phrases made me think about the choices we make every day — the tiny ones that seem insignificant in the moment, but that, over time, shape who we’re becoming.
About how easy it is to drift away from ourselves, not because of one big decision, but because of a series of small ones we might not be fully aware of in the moment we make them.
This year brought me back to paying attention to what I’m building — inside myself, in my work, in my relationships, in the spaces I inhabit.
Here’s to noticing the little things we build, and the ways they shape who we are 🥂

A reminder that communication is not just words – it’s gesture, intention, presence.
I’m sharing this frame from Women for Peace – No Peace without Women,
a performance directed by the incredible @irisbrosch during @photo_schweiz 2025.
The theme of this performance draws inspiration from Aristophanes’ Lysistrata.
This image speaks to the power of nonverbal communication in promoting peace—showing how collective action and women’s voices (and bodies) can bring about change.
