My amazingly talented friends @jessicajaneclarke and @dushanphilips are in one the first theatre productions back after Melbourne’s intense lockdown. Hit me up if you want to come along as a group :) xx
Many of my friends and business’s I know have really pushed hard to help with the bushfire crisis anyway they can. It’s truly awesome to see! I’ll attempt to make a list below of all the current posts / initiatives I’ve seen and a seperate post for those as well.
There is a lot of links to direct donations going around (keep them coming & donating, absolutely key for right now, I’ll list below!) but I haven’t seen too much on how you can help in person. I know a lot of us have work commitments that disallow us from doing this but even a week or an afternoon would make a big difference. Like above if you know of more please add below. I’ve only heard of a couple that people can do without training.
In general any active fire zones are emergency services only at this stage but there are a couple of organisations that are about to begin the grass roots rebuild process. The rebuild will be happening for a considerable amount of time so if you can’t help now, think about it in the future, even when the fires have left the media. I know it’s a small list so let me know if you hear of any more!
Blaze aid
Red Cross care package packing (cities)
Tradies for fire affected communities
Keep posting! It’s very easy to become overwhelmed / despondent / maybe upset, at times like these. Volunteering is a great way to connect with the greater community
Doing water things in the middle of winter is challenging! @jackrkenny@ellacrottty made it look easy. The sauna at the end was 👌 Home cooked Maltese feed was also ace.
