This intensive 6-day course explores the art of murrine, focusing on designing and composing images in glass through a clear, step-by-step process. After a brief historical overview, students use the Franchini technique to create original murrine while developing a strong understanding of image construction.
Through hands-on flameworking, participants build detailed glass cane designs that increase in complexity throughout the week, resulting in finished pieces with optional cold working. The course also introduces a āfast murrineā approach, enabling expressive imagery to be created efficiently, while still supporting more traditional, slower methods.
