Take a bow, Ms. McGovern!
In 27 years under the Mountain, you’ve guided countless Bears and always with a keen appreciation of this place and its surroundings.
It’s fitting that your final class was Mountain and Me.
Enjoy your well-deserved retirement!

Join us in celebrating two outstanding members of our community! We are proud to announce Dan Smith as the winner of the 2026 Staff Appreciation Award and Mae Wickwire as the 2026 recipient of the Timothy Fulco ’78 Service Award. Thank you both for your incredible commitment and service to Berkshire! 💚🐻
The Staff Appreciation Award is presented to a staff member who has worked at Berkshire for five years or less and who has demonstrated a unique dedication to their role, strong initiative and independent work ethic, and is a tireless supporter of their colleagues. As Trades Supervisor, Dan is known by many as the “go-to” person on campus for all things electrical, air conditioning, carpentry, and for fixing and maintaining our campus systems. Head of School Pieter Mulder said, “A true hands-on leader, he works alongside his team to ensure projects and repairs are completed efficiently and thoughtfully. He is reliable, flexible, and incredibly generous with his time, often working long days and serving in an on-call capacity whenever needed.”
The Timothy Fulco ’78 Service Award recognizes a staff member’s long-term commitment to excellence, dedication to their role and to Berkshire, and the respect they have earned from colleagues and the broader community. Now in her 16th year at Berkshire, Mae is a Housekeeper in the Facilities Department, where she takes meticulous care of the Jack. Head of School Pieter Mulder said, “Mae embodies the spirit of ‘Berkshire First’ in all her work, consistently going the extra mile to ensure that our spaces and places are welcoming, clean, and well cared for. She is highly respected by her peers and always on the move with a positive attitude. Her reliability, spirit, and commitment to the Berkshire community make her deeply deserving of this recognition.”
Congratulations on your well-earned awards, Mae and Dan! 👏
It’s officially finals and AP season! 📚✏️ From the quiet of late-night study sessions in Geier Library and office hours in MBD to the collaborative energy of group reviews in the Campus Center, our students are putting in the work and showing what it means to be a Bear.
You’ve got this, 🐻s! You’ve put in the hours, you’ve done the work, and you’ve got each other’s backs. Finish strong! Summer is officially in sight! 💚☀️
A massive congratulations to Samantha K. ’29, who earned a National Silver Medal at the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards for her stunning photograph, “The Plane”!
She joins an incredible group of artists recognized by @artandwriting over the years, including Andy Warhol, Zac Posen, Stephen King, Lena Dunham, Amanda Gorman, and Ken Burns.
This national honor follows a record-breaking year for Berkshire artists. Our students brought home a school-record 42 regional awards, including multiple Gold and Silver Keys across photography, ceramics, mixed media, digital art, sculpture, and more. 🎨🐻

What a way to close the season! 👏 Our final production of the year, Spring Shorts, was a total hit! The black box theater provided the perfect backdrop for five student-led performances.
A special highlight was the debut of “Keep Doing the Stupid Things,” written and directed by Sophie B. ‘26 as part of the Independent Study Program.
Bravo to everyone involved! 🎭✨🐻

From her Spring Family Weekend keynote, “Untangling Self-Worth from Achievement,” to her student workshops during Pro Vita Saturday, Dr. Sarah Bennison challenged us to separate our identity from our accolades and reminded us that we all matter.
Thank you, Dr. Bennison, for helping our parents, students, and faculty trade the pressure of performance for the resilience of purpose. We enjoyed having you under the Mountain! 💚🐻
Congratulations to these senior Bears on taking the next step in their athletic and academic journeys. Thank you for everything you’ve given to your teams and to Berkshire. We’re going to miss seeing you compete in green and gray, but can’t wait to cheer you on at the next level!

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week! 🍎✏️To the faculty, staff, advisors, and coaches who shape life under the Mountain, thank you for your dedication, passion, and mentorship. Your work—in the classroom, on the fields, and everywhere in between—defines the Berkshire experience. Thank you! 💚🐻
The Class of 2026 recently gathered for a BBQ at the Mulders’ house—all thanks to the generosity of our senior families who stepped up during the Senior Parent Giving Challenge! 🐻 💚
Bears relaxed on the lawn to the sounds of the New York Players while enjoying treats from Blue Chip Creamery. Thank you to our senior parents and guardians for making this such a special night for the Class of 2026! 🍦🎷
