Hi everybody, Agony Aunts, the band I play drums in, has two shows in the next week where we are headlining/playing last. They are both at Winters Tavern, an awesome venue, but it's in Pacifica. So we need you to come out and support us. Please also tell your friends who live on the Peninsula! Tonight's line-up is especially awesome, with BRNR from Oakland and the fabulous Mermaid and the Crashers, who we played with in January. We also play there next Wednesday.
On this day in 1997, my bandmate and dear friend Darren Michael Morton took his own life at the Golden Gate Bridge. I still miss him like crazy. The second photo is of my son, Darren Michael Bergman, who is named after Darren (as well as my brother) at his graduation in June.

SIGN FRANCISCO I (Alamo Square) Welcome to another alphabetical painting project by Dave. This time I wanted to paint the name of one San Francisco neighborhood per letter, but I ran up against the the unyielding fact that several letters lack any representation among the city's enclaves. K and X are cheats I felt okay about, but Q and Z had to go without. If it makes you feel better, I did two replacement paintings in cases where I disliked my first effort. (I disliked one of the replacements as much as the first try, but two attempts is my limit for any given letter). Therefore, I did 26 paintings total, just like if I did the full alphabet. Here are 24 of them. These are all painted with acrylics on canvas, and most are 9" x 12", though a few are different sizes.
