Incredibly honored to receive the 2025 Ellies Award from @oolitearts for my second project, BURY ME UNDER THE PALMS. This work is my most ambitious yet & has been quietly growing for many years, an exploration of weathering storms, both literal and conceptual. Grateful for this early support in bringing it to life, and to be among artists who keep creating with courage, care, and conviction. Some stories endure, even when we’re told to forget. Insanee of me to want to make another one, more to come! 💫 —————— The Ellies are offered in four categories to support Miami-Dade working and emerging artists, art educators, and established, professionally accomplished artists. To celebrate its 40th anniversary, Oolite Arts will award an additional $100,000 through the 2025 Ellies. With this year’s awards, Oolite has reached a $3.6 million milestone in Ellies support to artists and teachers since 2018.

Thank you @truefalsefilmfest for curating some of the most thought-provoking and intentional docs I’ve ever seen, it’s an honor to have my work alongside such incredible filmmakers and to share it with the most engaged, open-hearted audiences 🥹 I was nervous to present something so personal, unsure if it would resonate with the audience but this experience reminded me just how universal our stories are! from Santo Domingo to Missouri!!! To the unseen labor, the inherited wounds, and the quiet resilience that binds us all; to the matriarch, the motherland, and the ever-evolving immigrant dream.💧 I am humbled and privileged to have the space to create work like this in this moment in history, to bear witness, to question, to remember.
