I wrote a letter to him years ago saying thank you for including our track on his compilation, and giving us a shout out on @bbcradio4 #desertislanddiscs - and he wrote back, saying sorry he had to get his secretary to write back, but he was filming Batman in Nottingham. A beautiful connection seeing as Bent from there!

As much as we haven’t made Hip Hop and fell more into the trip Hop category sometimes, I think both of us were massively influenced by old school Hip Hop, especially from a sampling perspective. De La Soul were so genius at the time because they sampled all sorts of charity shop thrift, not relying on the usual “cool” sample sources. Also Jungle Brothers and A Tribe Called Quest were so good..! And… I love going to charity shops still 🫠

A few months ago I lost Otis Aka Teddy. 19 years of absolute love, with not one scratch or bite. He had a clean sheet too. 😆
Will always miss him. The song Cuddlebot that I released on my Magpies album was also about him. Come to think of it both Nail and myself have done a few tracks about cats 🐈 💕✨
