Pumping water up from the creek! This will get a little more permanent and less janky in time. I wanna keep the battery up by the garden, on solar, and run power down to the pump, + have the pump in a little housing and anchored down, with some kind of filter added.. But this works for now!

Chicken Mordor looking extra luminous the other day. And is it just me or does the steam kind of form the shape of an ethereal chicken??? #ghostpoultry

Playing a show tonight, on Saturday on the EMU hill! My set is 5:05 to 5:30. Lots of good music all evening, and the weather is gonna be great for it. It’s gonna be a special set, with mostly new material – wrote 5 new songs/beats and reworked 3 of the existing ones, ported all of my samples to the SP404 (so no more phone), and I’ve been getting some really good ambient / drone / soundscape stuff from some new pedals. Also playing a song with @sierralambertmusic that we’ve been collaborating on!

New album “Odds & Ends, Vol. 1” comes out on August 1st. You can pre-save it on Spotify now, and you can stream the track “Unfurl, Refurl” early on Bandcamp. Pre-orders are up on Bandcamp as well. Links for both are in my bio! It's been about 7 years since I last released music (whoops, hi again!). In that time I've had this growing collection of mostly-finished songs that hadn't yet found a home, so over the past year or two I've been re-recording, re-structuring, re-mixing, and re-mastering everything to breathe some new life into the old ideas. I've ended up with a collection of songs finally that feel lively and present, some of them totally transformed, while the seeds of the individual ideas (and some of the recorded parts) span the past decade.

May I offer you an Olive in this trying time? I pet-sat for this small hippo a few times this summer. Never a bad time for an Olive appreciation post. She’s in her golden years 🥹

1. A nice way to wake up. We love a good mid-week camping trip. One of these days I wanna try to do this for the entire workweek – finish work, drive out to the mountains, camp, wake up early and do a quick hike, drive back to town, work, repeat. Somebody hold me to this (or join?) Although I wonder if this would have the same blending effect that remote work often does, where sure you’re introducing a lot of time outdoors into your daily schedule, but you’re also inserting your daily schedule into your time outdoors. 2. Sledding hill final boss (and alt windows screensaver) 3 - 7. Good looking nature and a dangerous tree

The stream’s movin. One of these days I wanna bring the river tube out there and do the world’s shortest tubing run. Also kinda bummed that that log didn’t stay in place - gonna tie it down and try to anchor it somehow so I can take advantage of the spring rains to dig out that one section for the summer (hopefully)

I really liked this tree. A wind storm must have taken it down sometime in the past two weeks. It was at least 100’ tall and 3’ in diameter, and having the canopy hanging over you really made you aware of the vertical space and made that flat spot of land north of the stream feel kind of like a hall with high ceilings. Whenever a big tree like this falls it leaves this tangible void, this opening of sky, so it’s almost like it’s still there but in a different way (you can get metaphorical with that if you want). I was pretty sad to see this go, but the ruin it leaves behind is grand in its own right. It’s all just nature doing its thing.
