In September 2025, Clémence Debaig was part of The Whispering Forest by the Yoruba Tales Collective at Greenwich+Docklands International Festival.
Invited by Donatella Barbieri and Ben Turnbull from the London College of Fashion, Clémence worked on the technical application of this live experience offering a multi-player mixed reality performance using volumetric capture - building from Tosin Olufon’s original implementation. Rooted in eco-critical Yoruba mythologies, the work follows Ijapa the Tortoise and the Forest Spirits as they battle for supremacy, reflecting on human destruction within an ever shifting natural environment.
The mixed reality experience brought together danced characters, spectacular textiles and costume design to create an immersive encounter shaped by movement and myth.
A special acknowledgement to composer Helen Epega, whose powerful score gave the work its emotional depth and resonance. Performed by Fumy Opeyemi. With vocals by Toyin Gbomedo.
The Whispering Forest was presented in partnership with London College of Fashion, UAL, and supported by The London Borough of Newham, Eastbank, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, XR Network and Arts Council England.

So much amazing art in Folkestone at the moment I am really enjoying the ongoing #folkestonetriennial and last night’s PV of ‘At My Mother’s Table’ has some beautiful tiny table spreads and funny, poignant and moving stories to go with them at @strangecargoart
Repost @brave_new_worlds . It was pretty amazing to work with this company of artists, performers and participants and create Greenham in 360. Capturing design led theatre in VR360, Greenham has been selected for #aesthetica short film festival 2020!
