Bennett Peach Blossoms never get old 🌸 Last month, they turned our “office” into a beautiful sea of pink.
As fruit growers, it’s one of the most stunning but stressful times of the year. One cold night during bloom can change everything. We pulled plenty of all-nighters this spring to protect our crops for you.

Spring is buzzing at Bennett Orchards! 🐝🫐
Each spring, millions of Bennett Blueberry blooms must be pollinated in just a few short weeks.
To make this possible, we use a cross-pollination strategy that includes native pollinators supported on our farm through stewardship practices, along with bumblebee quads and honeybee hives brought in from local apiaries.
Together, they work to pollinate every blossom, so that you can enjoy big, beautiful Bennett Blueberries this summer!

🌿 Crop Update with Farmer Henry 🌿
Earlier this week, like growers all across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic, we faced a freeze warning Monday night into Tuesday morning.
We fired up our wind machines, which pull warm air down from above the orchard and mix it with cold air at plant level, and were able to keep our 2020-planted peach orchard above freezing. 🍑 That means we’re anticipating a full (or close to full) crop of Bennett Peaches this summer!
Our Bennett Blueberry Bushes were in bloom and did see temperatures dip below freezing, which may reduce our blueberry yield this season. We won’t know the full picture until harvest, but we’re remaining optimistic. 🫐
As with most things in farming… time will tell. It’s a tough job, but your support makes it all worth it. Thank you to everyone who has reached out. We’re out in the field every single day working to grow Delmarva’s Finest Peaches & Blueberries for you this summer. 🌱

After hand-pruning our orchards, we use a sweeper/ flail mower in order to clear and chop branches.
This step goes beyond simple cleanup, it helps reduce pests and disease, returns organic matter to our soil, and prepares our orchards for a clean, safe, beautiful and fun pick-your-own experience this summer.

These native pollinators overwinter in our woods adjacent to our orchards, and their populations continue to thrive thanks to our dedication to environmental stewardship and habitat protection on our family farm. 🌱
While not as efficient as bees, these delicate beauties still play a key role in pollinating our Bennett Blueberry Blossoms. 🌸
Unlike self-pollinating Bennett Peaches, Bennett Blueberries rely on a busy community of pollinators working together to produce big, beautiful, bumper Bennett 🫐 crops! 💙

We’re pleased to have made it through the last two nights without any damage to our Bennett 🍑 or Bennett 🫐 crops, with a little help from Mother Nature & technology.
Temperatures in our orchards stayed above 31°, safely over the critical mark of 28°.
That means we’re on track for full Bennett Peach & Bennett Blueberry crops for you this summer! 🍑🫐☀️
