“THE BOROUGHS” is heading to Netflix in May. This project took me to Albuquerque for a big chunk of 2024 and what a wild & wonderful ride it was. Thank you to this cast, so stacked with cinematic heroes & legends, I’m not sure I shook the look of a competition winner for the duration of the shoot. Together with the insanely talented ABQ crew they made this Brit-abroad feel incredibly welcome… and I think we’ve made something rather special. We can’t wait for you to see it soon! #evilcocoon
In an unexpected but delightful showbiz twist, Year of the Rabbit is now up on Netflix! I am hugely proud of this strange, beautiful, foul mouthed, violent, hilarious, gem of a show. We made it back in 2018, it went down really well and was promptly commissioned for a second series. Sadly we lost the funding in the madness of covid & it broke our hearts not to make more. The cast & crew were a deep squad of legends and we toiled every day, with not quite enough time or money to make this the best looking comedy on TV. (It made the silliness of the jokes funnier that it was shot like a prestige piece of British Period drama). Thank you to everyone who’s watched Joy on Netflix so far and to all the beautiful responses and messages we’ve received from around the world. The celebration of IVF and the British pioneers who wrestled it in to being, is a timely and truly world changing story. Oh my god I was a total mess watching JOY last night! Sobbed my way through this extremely moving film about IVF. Also tears of pride watching @thomasin.mckenzie portray the now-no-longer-unsung-heroine Jean Purdy so movingly. It is #1 in the UK, watch it on Netflix, people, but maybe have a chilled flannel handy, I could not breathe through my nose by the end 👃🏽 😂 And here’s a such a beautiful, thoughtful review by @mattfagerholm xx @finola.fin@benjyt

Only just processing the fun and emotion from this weeks Joy premiere at the @britishfilminstitute London Film Festival. I’m genuinely overwhelmed with gratitude ahead of its worldwide release next month. I’m grateful for @thomasin.mckenzie@jginorton & Bill and their beautiful performances, my producers @poseyamanda & @finola.fin , the incredible cast & crew who poured their hearts into this beautiful film and above all to Jean, Bob, Patrick and the hundreds of volunteers who 46 years ago brought IVF into the world. Without which our family, my world, would not have been possible. Thank you all.

It’s with a heavy heart and huge disappointment that I share the news that Renegade Nell won’t be returning for a second series on Disney+. Thank you to everyone who watched and fell in love with this magical show. I am so grateful for the time we had together, the cast and crew truly were the most extraordinary gang and they poured their hearts into every frame. We built the world together and had so many more stories to share. It felt like we had only just begun. I will miss you Nelly Jackson ❤️
Renegade Nell is out today on Disney+ ! If you’re a fan of horses, wigs, fighting & magic, please give it a whirl. It’s a mad and beautiful show and we’re all incredibly proud of it.
