A week ago I turned 29. I went for a long walk, got drinks with friends, then watched a soccer match.
No need to be poetic about it it was a great first birthday as a resident of California.
2025 Recap:
Suffice to say 2025 is the biggest 180 I’ve had in terms of so many facets of my life. From being laid off for 3 weeks in march to going back to the same job, to completely switching jobs and moving several hundred miles away to work at my alma mater it feels so weird to look back. Going through my photo album I barely recognize the me from 12 months ago, and that’s in the best way possible.
Even as the inevitable march of time pushes us needlessly forward I look to the future with renewed optimism and joy for life. Here’s to an even better 2026.
Last week I took a hike in the Fort Ord National Monument. Looked at some birds. Found a Race Track. I even saw a couple deer.

- Life Update - I recently received an opportunity to return to where I graduated from over 6 years ago now, which means I’ve packed up my stuff in Oregon and now find myself back in Monterey County, CA. Being back after so long is such a weird experience. It feels so familiar yet distant, like a recent memory of long ago. It’s been great reconnecting with people I haven’t seen or spoken to in so long and look forward to reaching out to and hearing from people.
It also feels great to get back into things that I’m passionate about and good at. In honor of my time in Oregon here’s a collection of ~6 years of selfies and pictures of me.
I’ve been making a lot of focaccia sandwiches.
1. Prosciutto, arugula, and cream cheese on focaccia
2. Air fried chicken and avocado cream sauce on focaccia
About 6 weeks late on my personal 2024 Recap post but I wanted to look back on perhaps the most life defining year I’ve had since graduating high school or college.
In 2024 I:
Moved out
Went to Europe
Left my job of 4.5 years for a completely different field of work
Sold the minivan for a newer Mazda
And through it all for some reason I feel like there could’ve been more. So here’s to 2025 and taking steps outside of my comfort zone and accomplishing bigger and bigger goals.
Spaghetti “Carbonara” and by Spaghetti “Carbonara” I mean pls don’t tell the Italians I used bacon I couldn’t find Guanciale in a suburban Safeway on a random Sunday in January.
