I’m pleased to announce that my first short film “Poncho” is finally online for you to see! (Link in Bio)
Poncho hasn’t been your average student film production. We started filming exactly two years ago today, and the last two years have been occupied with editing, scoring, re-editing, re-scoring, grading and sound design (in between long periods of procrastination.)
The film is about a cowboy called Poncho, who, upon receiving news of his imminent death, decides to finally finish his song. I hope you can get lost in the world that my amazing team and I were able to build.
The theme of the film (amongst many others) is self-expression and vulnerability. I wanted the character to learn to let go of his song, despite its imperfections. It seems that I’ve had a hard time learning that lesson myself, as suggested by the 2 years its taken me to put together this 25 minute film.
I considered submitting it to festivals, but because its a kind of awkward length that would have meant cutting it down (and taking out a song that I don’t have rights for). After a long deliberation, and in the spirit of the film, I decided to just upload it, exactly as I intended it to be seen.
